I just wanted to share this post from the Muddy’s Bake Shop Blog…

In 2007, large toy manufacturers who outsource their production to China etc, sold toys with high lead content, unsafe parts, and made from dangerous chemicals. In response, Congress passed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) , which among other things, mandates third-party testing and certification for all toys. This testing will be easy for large corporations who churn out thousands of each toy a year.

However, the way the current act is written, it puts most small toy-making businesses out of business. All the Etsy sellers, crafts fair artisans, etc in America would also have to pay the $300-$4,000 fee for third-party testing for EACH toy that they make. This makes the crafts-fair toymaker extinct while Mattel and Bratz prosper.

Many thanks to my mama for gifting me this adorable dish towel (and others) from Anthropologie.

Soap Silly’s very popular bubble bath cupcakes are in Parenting magazine for the December issue. I saw them on the “Best Gifts in a Pinch” page in the magazine. The article reads…

I’ve seen my fair share of fake cakes and cupcakes on Etsy and as much as I love fake food I’m never quite satisfied with my choices.

Until today, I should say. Take a look at these holiday selections from Frosted Fakes. Who knew a little plaster, glitter and paint could make my holiday so bright?

What does one do with fake cupcakes, you ask? Why, set them up on a cake stand so your kitchen is perma-Martha. Use them in the office as paper weights. Personally, I see these being used as props for pin up photos galore.

Some designs are already set up to hang on your tree while others are meant to sit on your holiday table. She even does cookies and donuts. (And I spotted a pot-themed cupcake I might need for my little brother.)

Perhaps the sweetest thing about these faux-cakes is the daily reminder that the only road to perfection is to be totally fake.

Original Art Print highly scented Tuberose CANDLE Cupcake Girls vintage inspired porcelain dolls $22.00

Ever since we first listed our baking gal candles we’ve received tons of requests for more candles. What’s held us up was finding the right candle. We wanted a candle that was larger, wider, and had the perfect scent. Well we found it!…and so here’s our new line of Everyday is a Holiday candles!
It’s a great size 6″ tall x 3 1/2″ wide. We noticed in the main pic that it sorta looked like a votive, which couldn’t be further from the truth. This is a pretty big candle and we think it models our artwork perfectly! The scent is Fresh Tuberose…we have one lit right now and it’s really good…a nice and light floral. The cream colored wax is a great backdrop to our artwork as well. We made downsized prints of our original paintings and affixed them to these candles and added decorative trims to frame in the imagery.
For Charlotte we used vintage sheet music. For the Well Read Raven we used some vintagey handwriting. And our Pretty Paper Doll Portrait and Cupcake Girls are both framed in delicate pin dot pink polka dots. We also give them each a little bit of an antique wash ’cause it just makes ’em look better! But the three dimensional element really finishes each off. The brown and white bakery string tied in a sweet bow around a tiny bundle of vintage millinery flowers. And they’ve all got a clear protective coating over the artwork.
These are an awesome gift and we love them because they’re table top decor. We have so little wall space in our new apartment that it’s nearly impossible to display our artwork.
