Chocolate Beet Cupcakes

Posted by on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

I am not the biggest fan of beets, so I can’t expect my kid to love them.  BUT, I can pretty much guarantee that he will have no idea that they are in these cupcakes.  Even if your child helps you with this recipe, they will probably be so mesmerized by their really vibrant purple color, that they won’t even think about the fact that they are eating their veggies.  It’s worth a try!  But do be aware…beets can make quite a mess (just one more reason your kids will love them, right?)!

ATC Review: Cupcake Memo Pad

Posted by on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Living Royal is a unique and unusual gift idea website.  If you are looking for a funny gift or a gag gift this is the website for you!  The website has tons of fun items like this fingertip microwave grip which I could use every time I reach into the microwave.  The best part is the website offers several cupcake items including the cupcake memo pad that ATC was sent to review.  The memo pad measures 3.5 inches tall and includes 150 little sheets of paper that half a cupcakes.  The memo pad is currently on sale for $3.50.

I really liked the memo pad.  I thought it was a great size, it’s big but not too big and the sheets of paper are just the right size for a quick note.  At the current sale price of $3.50 the memo pad is a great buy.  The one flaw I noticed was that in my little test of the paper I notice that my marker pen bled through the paper.  It’s not a big deal since ballpoint pen did not run through.  I would also caution people to be careful when ripping off the pages; it’s easy to end up with a ripped cupcake. Posted by on Friday, April 6th, 2012

I recently saw this fun display of cupcake necklaces and was excited to find the cupcake shaped gift box and necklace available on Amazon.  Even better, the necklaces from Amazon by Cupcake Cuties are half the price of the retail store I originally saw it in.  All the necklace pendants are the same but the cupcake shaped boxes are different.  The color options include green, purple, pink, or blue on top and yellow or brown for the base.

Quick Marshmallow Frosting

Posted by on Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Do you run out of energy to make the frosting after you’ve already baked a whole batch of cupcakes?  Or do you need to head out the door and you don’t have time to frost your cupcakes?  Or maybe you just don’t want more dishes to clean up?  I came across the perfect solution.  Just add marshmallows (see here) to the tops of your cupcakes 5 minutes before they’re done baking, and then spread out the melted marshmallow over the cupcakes.
