Cupcake Nuggets

Posted by on Monday, September 10th, 2012

Your kids will be pleasantly surprised when they take a bite of these cupcake nuggets.   These are certainly not what they look like.  They are made of cupcake pieces “breaded” with more cupcake and deep fried.  And the sauce? No, that is not barbecue sauce.  It is a raspberry sauce.  Yum!

It’s that time of year again–dirty cleats in the trunk, grass stains in the washing machine, and blankets and lawn chairs on the sidelines. What better way to make the most of it than with soccer cupcakes? Here are some stellar examples from around the Soccer world. Which one’s your fave?

Okay, we covered Westie Cupcakes, so let’s be fair and show off some Dalmatian love as well. The top photo belongs to Cupcakes and Recipes and makes excellent use of Raisinetes. The middle photo belongs to Penny Pressed. And the bottom belongs to DaisyAnneCreates.

Cupcake Coin Purse

Posted by on Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Sometimes it’s the sweet and simple things that really catch my eye on Etsy. And today this whimsical mini cupcake coin purse is calling to me! Misala’s shop is filled with adorable treasures and I am already thinking they would be perfect stocking stuffers for everyone in my family. Make sure to look at her Russian doll pouches too.  So stinkin’ cute!

Tips for Frosting Cupcakes

Posted by on Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Once again, the Huffington Post has some good ideas for the amateur cupcake artists out there.  Are you ever intimidated by the idea of frosting your cupcakes?  I don’t think I would have ever considered trying to swirl together two different colors of frosting, but now that I read this post, I’m not exactly sure what I was scared of.

Just pick two colors, get two piping bags and fill each one half-full with one of the colors, flatten the bags and stack them on top of one another, place them inside a large piping bag fitted with the decorating tip, and squeeze!

John Deere Cupcakes

Posted by on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

If you knew me a little better, you’d know why I’m quite so excited about this. You see, I have a small obsession with John Deere. Not that I would know what to do with a tractor in any practical sense, I just think the colors and logo look really cool–like t-shirt, knick-knack and pot holder cool. So, I’m very excited to find these John Deere baking wrappers and cupcake picks on Amazon for only $1.79. And when I make my John Deere cupcakes, I will be sure to use green food coloring and bright yellow frosting!

Fondant Art

Posted by on Monday, September 3rd, 2012

I love the looks of this fondant art, which will soon be displayed in a hardware store–see, cupcakes are everywhere! Here’s what the creator has to say about this masterpiece:

A local hardware store is running a cupcake competition this month…I thought long and hard and this is my contribution, inspired by the beautiful work of Hello Naomi, and an illustration seen on Shutterstock. I’m not entirely satisfied with them though, so I think I might have to make a second contribution…

Ah, the true artist is never satisfied!

Cupcake Pinatas at Walmart

What’s a party without a pinata? I just found these cupcake pinatas hanging out in our local Walmart. Similar ones are also available online for $12.99.

Hamburger Cupcakes

Posted by on Saturday, September 1st, 2012

Are you looking for something sweet to bring along to your Labor Day picnic?  These hamburger cupcakes look savory, but they are really sweet.  The recipe calls for yellow cake mix for the hamburger buns, chocolate cake mix for the patty, shredded coconut dyed green for the lettuce, yellow fondant for the cheese, red and yellow frosting for the ketchup and mustard, and sesame seeds for the top of the bun.

I love how the top looks just like an ordinary cupcake with sprinkles, but from the side it definitely looks like a hamburger.
