I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day! I enjoyed my day off but had a difficult time telling what day of the week it was when I returned to work today; it kept feeling like Monday! While I was out yesterday I found some Fourth of July cupcake items like this cupcake balloon at my local Kroger grocery store. I also saw very cute Uncle Sam cupcakes at our local Whole Foods. Did anyone celebrate with patriotic cupcakes?

Halloweencostumes.com offers a huge selection of costumes, including several cupcake costumes. There are cupcake costumes for babies, kids, and adults, ranging in price from $21.99 to 51.99. ATC was sent the Women’s Cupcake Costume to review. The costume costs $42.99, and there’s a matching toddlers cupcake costume if you were looking to match your child!

The costume arrived very quickly after it had been shipped. My first recommendation to anyone who buys this costume is to follow the first instruction as soon as you get it. That means taking the costume out of the bag and hanging it up! The costume definitely needs to be hung up so it can take shape and to get the wrinkles out. I loved the bright pink tulle top and the fun turquoise bottom. I also liked the multicolored sparkling sprinkles although from up close they do look like Band-Aids. I have to admit I thought the costume, which is a size 4-10 was short. I am 5’5” and the bottom of the costume was more than halfway up my thigh. I think if I were to wear this costume outside my house I would buy the suggested matching fishnet tights or the knee-high legwarmers. Read the rest of this entry »

Bakers Royal always has the most creative ideas! We’ve already shared with you the peppermint mocha cupcakes, the creme brulee cupcakes, and the fun cupcake pudding shooters! Naomi has come up with another great cupcake recipe that I couldn’t resist sharing; beer and pretzel cupcakes! These cupcakes are a great combination since they are salty and sweet which is very popular. I love the shared look of the pretzels and agree with Bakers Royale, it looks very dramatic! I know that girls like beer but for some reason these seem like a great cupcake idea for a guys birthday. There are also notes to turn the cupcake into a chocolate caramel pretzel cupcake if you are not a beer drinker.

My friend sent me a link to Lace Affair’s website after doing a quick search and seeing the cute cupcake products the company offers. I really want one of the sweet as a cupcake hooks that cost only $7.99.
Now that it’s officially summer and HOT outside I am considering buying the icing on the cupcake dress for $38.99. The website also sells cupcake earrings and a cupcake bank!

Happy Father’s Day to all the cupcake loving dads! What are you doing to celebrate your dad? I’m taking mine to a Food Truck Rodeo in Durham, North Carolina! I would have made him cupcakes, if were weren’t spending the afternoon eating. I like these simple free printable father’s day cupcake toppers from Embellish to use as decorations. The download also includes straw flags, bottle labels, a banner, and more.

I think these cupcakes were made for me, not just because I love the classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate. But because sometimes I get tired by the time it comes to decorating the cupcakes. I’ve already made the cupcakes and frosting with a looming sink full of dishes and often I’m crunched for time so I find myself wishing my cupcakes would frost themselves. Which is why these cupcakes are perfect, these chocolate cupcakes are topped with generous scoop of peanut butter cookie dough. They sound delicious and don’t have to be decorated perfectly to look good, just scoop on the frosting and you’re cupcakes are done!

Reading CandidCupcakes post about s’more cupcakes got me thinking about the orange grilled cupcakes I blogged last summer. I started wondering if there were any recipes or ideas on how to bake a cupcake over a campfire. After looking around I found an Ohio 4-H camp activity lesson plan. The lesson plan is part of the outdoor cooking session under the cooking with foil portion. In this session campers learn about cooking with conduction by experimenting with cupcakes. The directions read like a science experiment where you are supposed to brainstorm and plan your methods first then attempt baking the cupcakes inside fruit bases wrapped in foil. Similar to the orange grilled cupcakes but instead of a grill you use a bed of coals or the embers of a wood fire. Any brave camp counselors or parents willing to try grilled cupcakes this summer? Just check out the Ohio 4-H website for the PDF with the directions.

Have you seen these pinata cupcakes? I love cupcakes and pinatas so this is a very fun combination. A silicone mold is recommended and then you can use anything to fill the dome, candy, fruit, custard, or anything else you think of!

The image, which can be found by clicking “continue reading,” was created by Frugal Dad and breaks down the anatomy of our favorite baked good, the cupcake. The graphic shows where the ingredients used for baking cupcakes come from and some of the negative implications from the increase in baking the popular treat. It’s informative and eye opening but I still enjoy baking and eating cupcakes! Read the rest of this entry »

I found a tube of these Robert Gordon Le Petite Gateau little star cupcake wrappers at my local TJMaxx. The pack of 25 liners cost $2.99 at TJMaxx or costs $4.95 on the Australian company website. The website offers the liners in several other patterns and sizes, as well as other beautiful products so be sure to look around!

I’m constantly looking for cupcake ideas that my friends and family would enjoy. My dad and sister are huge lemon meringue pie fans. They would pick lemon meringue pie over any other dessert, or my hope is that this used to be the case. I just came across this lemon meringue cupcake recipe from Broma Bakery. The inside is a lemon curd, the top is a meringue, just like the pie version. I plan on making this recipe for my dad and sister in hopes that the cupcake version will be better than the pie!

Do you like Jello shots? How about cupcakes? What about Jello Shot Cupcakes? I Heart Cupcakes made Jello Shot Cupcakes from a cake mix, Jello, and rum (for those of age). I’ve never been a big fan of the texture of Jello but maybe I’d like Jello in a cupcake. Our neighborhood holiday party this weekend might be the perfect time to test out this recipe.

Summer is rapidly approaching and staying outside late, playing with neighborhood friends, is one of my fondest memories of childhood summers. As kids we would catch fireflies and these glowing cupcakes remind me of the firefly’s glow. I know that Food Snots originally made these cupcakes for Halloween and there a great idea to store away for the fall but I think these cupcakes would be fun to make on a summer night. Tonic Water and neon food coloring are among the ingredients used to make these cupcake’s frosting glows!

I know that the next holiday is Mother’s Day so I should be thinking of my mom before I start thinking about Father’s Day but I spotted this cupcake print tie from Ferramago on the Selfridges & Co website and now I’m wondering what I’ll give my dad this year. I know my dad would never wear a cupcake tie, which is a good thing because he wouldn’t want this tie that costs £115.00! It’s still a fun idea and I’m sure somewhere out there there’s a dad that would wear a cupcake print tie.

I recall several birthdays from when I was growing up where I requested my birthday cake to be a castle cake. I loved that the homemade cake had ice cream cones covered in frosting for the towers. These party hat cupcakes reminded me of my childhood birthday cake since they are cupcakes topped with ice cream cones decorated to look like party hats. Cookies & Cups shared this cupcake idea that can be customized to fit any birthday party color scheme.
