Shark and Beach Cupcakes

In June, look out for blue paper fins slicing through icing waves. Some might prefer a sandy beach, so stand a drink parasol in a dune of icing dipped in finely ground graham-cracker crumbs.

A birthday cake needn’t be large and layered. Clever slicing and colored icing transform simple cupcakes into real delights.

Pnut Jewelry Satisfies Our Cupcake Needs.

Posted by on Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Sticking with the last cupcake jewelry post, I’ve decided to show you some amazing cupcake jewelry from Pnut Jewelry. Thanks Natalie for the heads up!

Who is Pnut Jewelry? Rusty Pistachio is a NYC based jewelry designer and creator.

His interest in jewelry making and art brought him to SUNY New Paltz where he completed his Masters in Metals. As a studied and trained sculptor, he combined his love of metal smithing and tattoo art to create PNUT Jewelry.

As a member of the hardcore/punk band H2O for the past 8 years, his music and tattoos bore the inspiration for his line. “Flash is bold and powerful; the impetus for my line.”

This specific necklace (shown on the left) is one necklace that I absolutely adore.

You can also find cupcake rings and more! Check out the site: Pnut Jewelry. Here are a few of the items that I love:

Let’s Make Cupcakes

Posted by on Friday, December 21st, 2007

From Penny Springmann for Sweet Shoppe Designs.

Let’s Make Cupcakes is the perfect gift for those who have everything. Give as a gift to a special neighbor, friend, grandmother, mom, etc., and then spend some quality time together as you bake. This is a perfect gift for the grandkids to give grandma or grandpa or grandma/grandpa to give to them (mom and dads work well, too!)! Penny Springmann created this paint can as a template so you can fill it with your favorite digital papers and elements. This template fits a GALLON size paint can, but sizes do vary, so you might need to resize a tad (this shouldn’t hurt the quality.) She has included instructions for using the .psd and .tiff templates and on assembling your paint can (two ways to put it all together). Once you put it together, fill it with the dry ingredients, sprinkles, cup cake cups, and any other special goodie you would like.

The set includes a front template, back template, lid template, and a template recipe card.

The poem reads: Inside you’ll find a delish dish for you and I to make; a yummy for our tummies, a delight for us to bake. (300dpi, 4MB).

Only $3.99

Cupcakes On The Go…

Posted by on Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Making cupcakes? Always fun. Taking them over to your buddies house to share all the cupcakey goodness without getting them stuck together or smearing your hard frosting work? Not fun.

I found this awesome 3-in-1 cupcake carrier that hold various sizes including mini’s. For $19.97 your holiday cupcakes can make it there in one piece.

Found on the Home Improvement Superstore website it takes do it yourself to a whole new level.

Perfect Endings Holiday Cupcakes

Posted by on Saturday, December 15th, 2007

These cupcakes made for Williams-Sonoma by Perfect Endings have become one of Oprah’s favorite things. Perfect Endings Cupcakes can be shipped anywhere in the United States and come in three fabulous flavors: red velvet with white icing, chocolate with chocolate sprinkles and coconut.

From Williams-Sonoma:

Perfect Endings, the renowned Napa Valley bakery, makes these cupcakes for us from scratch, using fresh eggs, real butter and other premium ingredients. And they’re superb. Sam Godfrey, the founder, learned baking as a child from his Southern grandmother, and this set includes three favorites re-created from her original recipes: rich chocolate, frosted with classic chocolate icing and scattered with dark chocolate sprinkles; red velvet, generously swirled with an old-fashioned white icing and sprinkled with red velvet cake crumbs; and vanilla, with vanilla icing topped with shredded coconut.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Posted by on Friday, December 14th, 2007

I decided to make these delicious cupcakes today. They turned out very moist and I have to admit, I’ve already had two. These are Red Velvet cupcakes with Milk Chocolate frosting. I decided to top my cupcakes with peppermint sprinkles. Delish.

Red Velvet Cupcakes:
15 1/2 ounces all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
3 eggs

1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 1/4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
13 ounces granulated sugar
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons red food coloring
1 1/4 teaspoons vinegar (white or apple cider)
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/8 cup water

Preheat oven 350 degrees F.

Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder into a bowl. Set aside.

Mix oil, sugar, and buttermilk until combined. Add eggs, food coloring, vinegar, vanilla and water and mix well. Add the dry ingredients a little at a time and mix on low until combined. Be sure not to over mix, or the batter will come out tough.

Line a 16-cup cupcake pan with paper liners, pour the batter into the liners and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 to 30 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool before frosting.

Creamy Milk Chocolate Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons whipping cream (more if needed)

1. Place 1/2 cup softened butter in a mixing bowl.
2. Add in the cocoa powder, 2 cups powdered sugar and 3 tablespoons whipped cream; start beating with an electric mixer. Add in more whipped cream as needed to create desired texture.
3. Beat until mixture is smooth and creamy.

Crocheted Strawberry Cupcake Hat

Finally, a cupcake hat for us adults! This adorable crocheted cupcake hat can be found at this etsy store.

Here is a 100% Acrylic crocheted Strawberry Cupcake hat. It’s delicious, and even has little strings you can tie around your chin. It runs a little on the small side, so you’re going to have to squeeze that little head of yours into it – or maybe just put it on a kid. If you like it, but would prefer it to fit a little bigger of a head, convo me and you can even request a flavor!

Pukashell Creative Designs

Posted by on Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

Alright so, I was just going to post about these cutesiest playthings– the Two Bite Cake Playtime Set.

Then I got to looking around on Pukashell Creative Designs’ Etsy site and boy, oh boy, it is a plethora of cupcakey (and other sweet things) goodness.
Case in point: Itty Bitty Cupcake Collector Set.

Really, I just don’t see how a person could say no to something as utterly precious and tiny as these darlings. And furthermore, they ice the cake, persay, with their jewelry. Such as the Triple Chocolate Cupcake Bracelet, it makes my mouth water and my wrist ache (to wear it)!

Don’t take my word for it though, go visit the site, there is too much goodness there to be contained in one meager blog post. Go! Its wonderful whimsy you’ll find there.
