Cake Decors
It’s always a celebration when you use our decoration!

Welcome to Cake Decors, your home for the finest pas-tillage (gum paste) decorations.

Cake Decors is the retail division of Sugar Flowers Plus, which has been dedicated to the art of sugar since 1989. These products are designed and specially hand crafted by experienced artists in the most pristine of manufacturing facilities. All products and manufacturing facilities have been carefully inspected by the FDA for the highest rating of consumer satisfaction, consumption, and cleanliness.

Sugar Flowers Plus’ founder, Terry Becker, is more famously known as television’s ‘Chief Sharkey’ from the classic program ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.’ Being an avid baker himself, Terry discovered pas-tillage for the first time while filming a movie in the Philippines. Since then, he has worked to get these quality decors into the kitchens of the finest 5-star hotels and to renowned bakers worldwide. But what about you, the home baker? Never before have these products been available for individual home use…until now. Cake Decors offers gum paste roses, orchids, and poinsettias with such intricate detail they’re often mistaken for the real thing. Dazzle your guests with a floral delight atop your next cake. And remember…

It’s always a celebration when you use our decoration!

They have recently added Royal Icing flowers, themes, and creatures that would also be just perfect for cupcake decoration! The new line includes Ladybugs, Bumblebees, Unicorns, Baby Animals, Race Cars, Circus, Summer, Ocean Creatures (pictured above), Dinosaurs, and Safari.

Q-I am looking for white lacy paper cupcake collars.  The only description I can give.  It appeared to be about 1″ tall, wrapped near the top of the cupcake, there was no liner on the cupcake. Hope you decide to take this mission!

Q-I was wondering if you could help me. Whenever I bake cupcakes, or any breads really, they come out a little on the dry side. Now, I live in Phoenix Arizona, and we’re known for our dry heat, so that may be a contributing factor, but I was wondering if you have any suggestions. Please help. I wholly trust your advice. Thanks so much for your time.

Cupcake Wrappers Deluxe!

Posted by on Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Ain’t these downright elegant? They’re laser cut cupcake wrappers from a company called Fancy Flours, and they’d be just the thing for a fancy event like a wedding reception, an art gallery opening, or taking the wheels off your brand new trailer!

They’re a little pricey for every day use, but if you’re wanting to really impress the kin folk these would be well worth it. $14.00 for the laser cut, with a big assortment of other cute kinds for less.

Kool-Aid Buttercream!

Posted by on Sunday, February 17th, 2008

clevercupcakesbch.jpg

Michelle of Clever Cupcakes created a kids cupcake with grape Kool-Aid buttercream. It never occurred to me to use Kool-Aid in buttercream before. My eyes have now been opened to the endless possibilities of this new found discovery. The cake is Vanilla Confetti made with rainbow non-pareils. The picture is adorable as well.
Vanilla Confetti Cupcakes (yields 24)

3 cups cake flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 cup milk
3 eggs
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp
1/4 cup rainbow-non pareils (round sprinkles)

Mix dry ingredients. Add butter and let mixer run until butter is broken down into pieces no larger than a pea. Meanwhile add approximately 1/4 cup of the milk. Once butter is combined add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla to remaining milk and add mixture slowly will the mixer is still running. Scrap down the sides, add sprinkles to batter, and mix until batter is smooth. Bake at 350 until toothpick comes out clean (between 18-22 minutes).

Grape Kool Aid Buttercream

2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
4 single serving grape kool aid packets
1/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup trans fat free crisco

Place powdered sugar and kool aid in bowl of mixer and pour boiling water over top. Mix at high speed using whip attachment until mixture is cooled to room temperature. Add butter and crisco then whip at high speed for 10 minutes. Add optional blue food colouring.
