Chocolate Log Christmas Cupcakes

Posted by on Thursday, November 29th, 2012

‘Tis the season! Or, almost anyway. The first holiday parties I know of are happening this weekend, and it’s certainly cold enough outside to be the season! That’s why these Chocolate Log Christmas Cupcakes from DaisyCakes caught my eye. I’m not sure how they created the “logs” (any ideas?) but they look wonderful.

Jell-O Holiday Cupcake and Hot Chocolate cupcakes

Posted by on Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

While picking up groceries at my local Wal-Mart I looked around at the the specialty holiday products.  I noticed Jell-O has made a Holiday Cupcake pudding snack.  Not being a huge pudding fan I passed on these but if I was a little kid taking a school lunch I bet I would have loved them!

I also spotted a new Betty Crocker Hot Chocolate mix.  The mix is only $2.24 and comes with marshmallows and a fluffy white frosting mix.  I’m thinking about buying this one and saving it for if/when we get snow in North Carolina so I can enjoy a hot chocolate cupcake with a cup of hot chocolate!  Have you seen any other holiday cupcake products that you will be buying or gifting this holiday season?

Cupcake Tin Advent Calendar

Posted by on Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

If you’re looking for a craft to do while your family is together this mini cupcake tin advent calendar seems like a great project.  The Happy Scraps shared her homemade advent calendar and 24 activities ideas for each day.  So instead of opening a little present or putting together a little Christmas display you do something as a family each day leading up to Christmas.  I think this is a really nice, and different idea for creating new holiday traditions.

Kohl’s Cupcake Christmas Items

Posted by on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

I did a little pre-black friday shopping over the weekend and I was amazed at how many cupcake items Kohls had for the holidays.  In the juniors sections I spotted the cupcake convertible gloves, shown above, for $6.99.

If you are looking for festive decorations there is a cupcake nutcracker for only $11.25.  And there are several cupcake ornaments to choose from that are very affordable at $3.15 each.  With black friday deals and coupons these items will be even cheaper!

S’more Cupcake Ornament

Posted by on Friday, November 16th, 2012

Is it too early to be thinking about christmas ornaments?  Years ago my sister got one of these s’more ornaments.  I think this s’more cupcake ornament would be a nice addition to our tree, especially since it’s only $5.99!

Kawaii Halloween Cupcake Toppers

Posted by on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I especially love seeing all the different, creative cupcakes people come up with.  My favorite Halloween cupcakes this year are the Kawaii Halloween cupcake toppers by Next to Nicx.  Instead of going with the traditional scary halloween monsters and ghoul, she chose to create really adorable little monsters, bats, and ghosts! The Next to Nicx website features detailed picture instructions and the downloadable template.

Cupcake Pumpkins

Posted by on Monday, October 22nd, 2012

Looking for a cute centerpiece for a fall birthday?  How about making these cupcakes from pumpkins!  I saw the idea at the North Carolina State Fair and love how easy and fun it is! Best of all there is no mess since you are not carving the pumpkins.

Fall Cupcake Kits at World Market

Posted by on Thursday, September 20th, 2012

Normally I try to enjoy the season we are currently in, if it’s summer I try to enjoy the summer, not wish for cold weather.  When it’s winter I try to embrace the weather not beg for it to be flip flop season but this year I’m with all the other people asking “is it fall yet?”  Here in North Carolina it’s barely cooled down and I am ready for the cooler weather.  I saw World Market has a Fall Harvest section on their website which includes two cupcake kits! The kits include a chocolate turkey cupcake kit or a pumpkin pie cupcake kit.  The turkey kit which costs $7.99 and makes 12 turkeys includes the mix, frosting, eyes, nose, wrappers, and feather picks.  The pumpkin pie kit costs $5.99 and makes 8 pumpkin cupcakes with cinnamon frosting.  The kits are the perfect way to enjoy those delicious fall flavors!

Make it a Cupcake Christmas

Posted by on Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

I know it seems early to be talking about Christmas but many of the stores started their Christmas displays in August!  Kohl’s may not have their displays up in their stores yet but they are online and they have cupcakes! My favorite has to be this mini tree skirt for $14.99 and this light up snowglobe for only $6.74.  Gotta start making my Christmas list!

Coastal Cupcakes and Hobby Lobby

Posted by on Monday, September 17th, 2012

This past weekend my mom and I thought it would be fun to take the dog to the beach.  Turns out in North Carolina dogs aren’t allowed on the beach until after September 30th not after Labor Day as we were thinking.  Poor planning on my part as we were two weeks too early and ended up taking the dog for a two hour car ride.  We managed to turn our failed beach day around with cupcakes!  We stopped by Coastal Cupcakes in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina and picked out five cupcakes to take home.  We brought back the oreo cheesecake, pink lemonade, red velvet, coconut, and key lime.  My favorites were the red velvet and the Oreo but all of the cupcakes were really good so I would definitely recommend trying Coastal Cupcakes if you are Wrightsville Beach or Wilmington!

Happy Belated Fourth of July

Posted by on Thursday, July 5th, 2012

I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!  I enjoyed my day off but had a difficult time telling what day of the week it was when I returned to work today; it kept feeling like Monday!  While I was out yesterday I found some Fourth of July cupcake items like this cupcake balloon at my local Kroger grocery store.  I also saw very cute Uncle Sam cupcakes at our local Whole Foods.  Did anyone celebrate with patriotic cupcakes?

ATC Review: Women’s Cupcake Costume

Posted by on Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

Halloweencostumes.com offers a huge selection of costumes, including several cupcake costumes.  There are cupcake costumes for babies, kids, and adults, ranging in price from $21.99 to 51.99.  ATC was sent the Women’s Cupcake Costume to review.  The costume costs $42.99, and there’s a matching toddlers cupcake costume if you were looking to match your child!

The costume arrived very quickly after it had been shipped.  My first recommendation to anyone who buys this costume is to follow the first instruction as soon as you get it.  That means taking the costume out of the bag and hanging it up!  The costume definitely needs to be hung up so it can take shape and to get the wrinkles out.  I loved the bright pink tulle top and the fun turquoise bottom.  I also liked the multicolored sparkling sprinkles although from up close they do look like Band-Aids.  I have to admit I thought the costume, which is a size 4-10 was short.  I am 5’5” and the bottom of the costume was more than halfway up my thigh.  I think if I were to wear this costume outside my house I would buy the suggested matching fishnet tights or the knee-high legwarmers. I’m taking mine to a Food Truck Rodeo in Durham, North Carolina!  I would have made him cupcakes, if were weren’t spending the afternoon eating.  I like these simple free printable father’s day cupcake toppers from Embellish to use as decorations. The download also includes straw flags, bottle labels, a banner, and more.

King of the Grill Cupcakes

Posted by on Thursday, June 14th, 2012

In my house I may do most of the cooking but when it comes to grilling, that’s 100% my husband’s job.  I found these totally perfect cupcakes at Wilton.com and I instantly fell in love.  Not only would they be a great Father’s Day cupcake idea, but these would also be great for a 4th of July picnic too.  You could also modify this a bit by adding fondant hotdogs, corn on the cob and other veggies.  They may each take a while to make, but check out the baker reviews for some time-saving tips.

Lucky Charm Cupcakes

Posted by on Saturday, March 17th, 2012

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Remember those breakfast cupcake posts?  Similar to the cinnamon toast crunch and Cap’n crunch cookie cupcakes, today’s St. Patrick’s Day cupcake idea is inspired by breakfast cereal.  Lucky Charm Cupcakes! As a kid I loved Lucky Charms, well I think I really liked the marshmallows, and now I can’t help but wonder if cupcakes that include the cereal are as magically delicious! I found several recipes for Lucky Charm cupcakes, two, shown above, called for vanilla cupcakes topped with frosting and then the cereal.  These recipes included one from AMK Designs and Delights, the recipe calls for homemade vanilla cupcakes and a sprinkle of lucky charms.  For those pressed for  time, Betty Crocker’s recipe calls for yellow cake mix, lucky charms, and edible glitter.

For the bakers that take time to bake from scratch, Cupcake Project has a recipe for Lucky Charm Cupcakes using homemade lucky charms that are in the crust, the batter, and on top of the frosting!  This, shown to the left, cupcake sounds more time consuming but also sounds like the true Lucky Charm cupcake!

Green Ice Cream Cupcakes

Posted by on Friday, March 16th, 2012

Here in North Carolina we have been having weather in the 80s!  Which means these green ice cream cupcakes from One Charming Party would be perfect for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow!  Using mint chocolate chip ice cream and green liners, these festive no-bake cupcakes are easy to make in advance, saving you time to celebrate the holiday!

More Cupcakes at Target

Posted by on Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Another week, another trip to Target.  And another cupcake hunt too!  This week I found this adorable felt cupcake Easter basket for only $2.50.  I also discovered that there is a small version to the large cupcake bucket I posted last week.   The large is $8 and the small one is only $5. It’s going to be a cupcake filled Easter at my house this year!
