Staple’s Back-to-School Cupcake Items

Posted by on July 6th, 2012

I ran into my local Staples looking for a planner and found some great cupcake items in the back to school section.  They had a cupcake shaped tape dispenser for $7.00 and a jar of paperclips topped with a cupcake for $3.00.  In the Post-It section there was a notepad with four different cupcake designs in one pad for $2.99.  I was unable to find the items on the Staple’s website so you will have to visit a store to find these cupcake desk essentials.

Hostess Wedding Cake

Posted by on July 5th, 2012

I have been a big Hostess fan ever since I was a little kid.  There is something special about opening up one of their plastic packages and enjoying that overly sugary sweetness.  Yum!  While surfing the Hostess website today I found the coolest wedding cake ever!  It took the groom only one hour to make this cake from Twinkies, Cupcakes, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Suzy Q’s, Sno Balls and Mini Muffins.

They also had several recipes that use the desserts to make new and different creations.  I so want to try this Black Forest Dessert that is made with a whole package of Hostess cupcakes!

Beach Cupcakes

It was hotter than hot here today, so I found these photos from Flour & Sun Bakery refreshing! I especially love the shark cupcake, with what looks like a fondant fin. Simple, but oh so clever! I will definitely be stealing this particular idea! Stay cool cupcake lovers!

Happy Belated Fourth of July

Posted by on July 5th, 2012

I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!  I enjoyed my day off but had a difficult time telling what day of the week it was when I returned to work today; it kept feeling like Monday!  While I was out yesterday I found some Fourth of July cupcake items like this cupcake balloon at my local Kroger grocery store.  I also saw very cute Uncle Sam cupcakes at our local Whole Foods.  Did anyone celebrate with patriotic cupcakes?

ATC Review: Women’s Cupcake Costume

Posted by on July 4th, 2012

Halloweencostumes.com offers a huge selection of costumes, including several cupcake costumes.  There are cupcake costumes for babies, kids, and adults, ranging in price from $21.99 to 51.99.  ATC was sent the Women’s Cupcake Costume to review.  The costume costs $42.99, and there’s a matching toddlers cupcake costume if you were looking to match your child!

The costume arrived very quickly after it had been shipped.  My first recommendation to anyone who buys this costume is to follow the first instruction as soon as you get it.  That means taking the costume out of the bag and hanging it up!  The costume definitely needs to be hung up so it can take shape and to get the wrinkles out.  I loved the bright pink tulle top and the fun turquoise bottom.  I also liked the multicolored sparkling sprinkles although from up close they do look like Band-Aids.  I have to admit I thought the costume, which is a size 4-10 was short.  I am 5’5” and the bottom of the costume was more than halfway up my thigh.  I think if I were to wear this costume outside my house I would buy the suggested matching fishnet tights or the knee-high legwarmers. Cupcake Ecards

Have you visited SomeEcards.com yet? Well, prepare to chuckle. Some are offensive. Some are just silly. And some are downright kneeslapping hilarious. Here are a few of the “cupcake ecards” my Facebook friends have sent my way:

Cupcakes in Disguise

Posted by on June 30th, 2012

Some of these cupcakes have been featured on ATC before, but not all of them have, so take a peek at these cupcakes disguised as other food items.  They are pretty deceptive if you ask me.  Here are my favorites:

I can’t remember the last time I needed a pincushion, but this is so cute! And it certainly beats the tomato pincushions of my youth! This clever creation is courtesy of Flickr’s A little bit of stitchin’.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Posted by on June 28th, 2012

I know that the popular song Take Me Out to the Ballgame says “Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks”, but I think it really should say “Buy me some cupcakes and cracker jacks.”  If you’re headed out to the ball field, take along these “Batter” Up Baseball Cupcakes from Duncan Hines.  They are sure to be a “hit”!

Beer & Pretzel Cupcakes

Posted by on June 27th, 2012

Bakers Royal always has the most creative ideas!  We’ve already shared with you the peppermint mocha cupcakes, the creme brulee cupcakes, and the fun cupcake pudding shooters! Naomi has come up with another great cupcake recipe that I couldn’t resist sharing; beer and pretzel cupcakes!  These cupcakes are a great combination since they are salty and sweet which is very popular.  I love the shared look of the pretzels and agree with Bakers Royale, it looks very dramatic!  I know that girls like beer but for some reason these seem like a great cupcake idea for a guys birthday. There are also notes to turn the cupcake into a chocolate caramel pretzel cupcake if you are not a beer drinker.

American Girl Cupcake Accessories

Posted by on June 26th, 2012

Do you know who  McKenna, Emily, Rebecca and Addy are?  If you said yes, then you must have an American Girl doll in your home!  My little one is in love with these dolls and all their clothes and fun accessories.  And they have cupcake stuff too!  I love this cupcake pajama set and may have to add it to my girl’s birthday list.  This whole set is just $24.  You can also purchase matching girl’s cupcake slippers for $22!  Wonder if I could squeeze into a girl’s XL…

A Cool Summer Treat

Posted by on June 25th, 2012

Are you looking for a way to stay cool this 4th of July?  These cupcakes might not actually be cold, but they would be a great addition to your holiday festivities.  The recipe uses three colors of cake batter and frosting, and sugar crystals give the snow cone cupcake its “icy” appearance.

Iguana Cupcake

Now that is a sweet lizard. Why haven’t I ever thought to put an iguana on my cupcakes? Check out Rodesa’s Flickr photostream for more cool cakes and cupcakes!

Custom Cupcakes

Posted by on June 24th, 2012

Are you in need of a fun summer baking project for your kiddos?  Or maybe your child is just dying to get involved making their next birthday cupcakes?  Check out these kids’ custom cupcakes that one Mama let her daughter decorate for her classmates.  Your kids can use food coloring markers to make decorations of their choice on white fondant.  This would be a relatively mess-free way to get your kids involved in the baking process.

Cupcake Wall Decals

Posted by on June 23rd, 2012

I don’t know if I could handle the constant hunger cues, but these wall stickers would look cute in a child’s bedroom or kitchen. A set of 12 is only $10 on Amazon! The cupcakes measure: 6 – 3.25″ x 6 – 1.75″. And you can move them without damaging the stickers or the walls, so there’s no major commitment involved!

Cupcake Fabric

Posted by on June 22nd, 2012

I have a confession to make- I am a craftaholic!  I love to try new crafts every few months and my most recent endeavor has been sewing.  So far I have made several bags, dresses and beanbags.   It is so much fun to start with a flat piece of fabric and turn it into something new.  So for all you cupcake fans out there who are also sewers like me, I found some great fabric that marry those two loves from Fabric.com.  FYI- I have also found cupcake fabric at  Joanne’s, Hobby Lobby and even my local Walmart.

Now that it’s officially summer and HOT outside I am considering buying the icing on the cupcake dress for $38.99.  The website also sells cupcake earrings and a cupcake bank!

Last weekend I went to a lovely cupcake party in a friend’s home.  The company was wonderful, the cupcakes were absolutely delicious, and we even had a surprise visit from President Obama (well, not quite, but keep reading if you’re curious).

First, check out this spread.
