Almost everyone loves Hello Kitty, so today I thought I’d display a great Hello Kitty Cupcake set of nine cupcakes from Ipoet on Flickr. The most stunning piece is the fondant modelling of the family, but if you look in the foreground of the image you can see pillow like hello kitty heads. They look great and would not be too difficult to create.

And not just any old Hazelnut!! Gourmet Hazelnut Cupcakes thank you!
Cupcakes should not only taste delicious, but should look appealing and exciting too. To be honest I could show you the yummiest naked cupcake, and well it would look.. boring… truth is, these days every book is judged by its cover, and every cupcake by its decoration. But that doesn’t mean to say that a cupcake can just look good, because although we show you only a few dimensions, when you bake it up, you bring something we never can… that third dimension… taste…
Now I cannot really speak for these hazelnut cupcakes, as I am yet to bake them myself. I love hazelnuts, but as yet haven’t quite had time… but these caramel stringy amazing hazelnut decorations… well they look amazing, so if you want to make an impact, they are a definite YES!… and if you try out the cupcake, let us know if it tastes as good as it looks!

No longer does the cake pop have to take side stage to the mother of cakes (i.e. the standard every day cake), nor does it need to step aside for it’s biggest brother (the cupcake) or it’s big sister (the mini cupcake). No, finally, today is the day that cake pops can take centre stage. Their very own multi layer cupcake stand!
Check these cupcake tower’s out! They are so so versatile you can go all pops as shown here, or if you check out the other pictures you can see how you can combine cakes, cupcakes and cake pops.

You can of course find these awesome stands at the aptly named ‘The Cupcake Tower’. So do the Monster mash and check out more of the pictures below!!!!

Found these AWESOME cupcakes today by the super talented Solange Queiroz! Aren’t they fantastic! I love this idea and it would be brilliant for a sixties party or a musical themed party… I can just imagine these four cupcakes atop a cupcake tower with all the other cupcakes decorated with screaming girl faces!

I tossed up today between Gin (yes please!), Ginseng (dubious for a cupcake) and the ever versatile, Ginger! And in the end Ginger won! And why wouldn’t it, perfect for the sweet dessert or for the main course, pickled, candied, ground or raw, it has a million and one uses, so it is only to be expected to find it somewhere in the kitchen!
This particular recipe I have chosen today uses ground ginger and candied ginger, and looks amazing to boot! The recipe inspired by crockery is from the great baking website Not Quite Nigella! I’m sure you’ll agree, they look pretty darn pretty in their Queen of Hearts styling!

Have you ever wanted to create cupcakes for a special occasion that really seem to celebrate the recipient? I can think of many birthdays and celebrations where I have wanted to really give a personal touch to my cupcakes, but sometimes you just don’t have time to cut up 2-3 dozen pieces of cardboard, then inner cardstock and finally creating and cutting up those photos as well!
Well if you are in this situation, or just want to create something professional, then these toppers from Diva Entertains are seriously worth checking out, inexpensive and customizable, what more could you ask for? Okay, ready cooked cupcakes wouldn’t go astray, but hey, that is where you can add your signature stamp!

With Easter just passed, I have to share one fantastic reader contribution. These are simply amazing.
This is a cupcake tree created by Trish from Sweetology. She says “Are you like me and look at everything and say….how can I use that object with/for/on my cupcake??”
Well this tree seemed to just appeal to her and the results are amazing!

Eggnog is awesome, but these cupcakes from Chockylit look even better, and why is that? Well I am glad you asked, the reason is the Bourbon Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting!!! I haven’t made this version before, but I have made a very similar cupcake, which if you like eggnog is divine. Most of all though I want to try the frosting, which I think would probably work well on lots of different types of cupcakes.
So whether you try these cupcakes now, for Christmas in July, or wait till the official date in December, it is a recipe worth filing away!

What else this Easter would you rather be than a bunny?? And with these colorful easter themed easter cupcakes from Keira’s Cakes how can you argue?! I love the purple carrot cupcakes, and personally I don’t think there would be a sweeter or nicer way to eat a whole raw carrot, than these lovely icing ones on top of a fantastic moist and delightful cupcake!

What could be a great ingredient for the letter D? I admit I have been a little stumped! But in the end it hit me, what else but Dr Pepper?
Down here in Aussie land, Dr Pepper cannot be found in many places… there was once a day when Dr Pepper tried to storm our shores in force, but for some reason cherries and Aussies don’t mix and it quickly disappeared from our supermarket shelves. You can still get it in some specialty stores, though…
And I think it would be fantastic in a cupcake, like in this one from Cupcakeables! The cupcake here can be made either from scratch or from packet mix, so whether you are looking for a simple quick fix with a bit of pizazz or want to experiment with a potential future masterpiece you are sure to have fun with these!

So many choices, the obvious leader… Chocolate, the other contenders carrot and caramel… but I wanted to choose something a little different, chili! But don’t worry, if you love chocolate, I have actually mixed the two and gone for a chili chocolate cupcake! In fact, why not add another C, in the form of some Cinnamon!
Throw it all together and you have these wickedly good looking cupcakes…

Cinnamon, Chili, Chocolate Mud Cupcakes
As you can tell from the photo, this cupcake is from Not Quite Nigella. Lorraine is from down under, in fact, from my original home city of Sydney. She is making quite a statement and has a book due out next year. But lets get to talking about this cupcake, the mud cake is rich and dense (like a good mud cake should be) and uses Dagoba Powder for the spice mix. Don’t fret though if you don’t have this in your local supermarket as it can easily be recreated by making your own, which is explained on the blog, along with the irresistible recipe!

So you thought I would go with banana, right? Well I am not sure about making this too healthy and seeing I featured fruit yesterday, I thought today we could do with a Triple dose of sugar!

Triple Butterscotch Cupcakes
This cupcake is from the delightful Annie’s Eats. I have featured her cupcakes before because I am yet to try one of her recipes and not be totally in love the results, and I have been eyeing these wonderful cupcakes off since she published the recipe in November last year.
There are three parts to this cupcake, the cake, the frosting and then the butterscotch sauce, which should be applied just before serving or eating, for MAXIMUM butterscotch appeal! But why read about it? see the recipe here.

Today I am going to do something a little different, that is, feature a different cupcake each couple of days… for each I will share with you a fantastic cupcake blog which features the cupcake recipes with that alpha ingredient! Each of these blogs have the recipe listed so you can try and make these yourself!
So first up (unless you have mastered reciting the alphabet backwards) is A, and what better than an apple! (With a name of AppleCupcake, I couldn’t really choose anything else huh?)

Spiced Apple Cupcakes with Maple Buttercream
These cupcakes come from Raspberri Cupcakes and represent everything that is hearty and good about apples! I love the look of these deep brown cupcakes that on the inside have a dense moist look, almost like a muffin, but topped with delectable buttercream.
Find the recipe here.

Is Easter late or early??
Well it can be both!
Technically Easter is really late this year, I struggle to remember when it happened so far through April! But it can also be early, in that I am bringing you a few Easter ideas today! Two cool ideas that you can create at home… well even if you can’t you can let them inspire you for your own holiday celebrations!

This is a super cute idea, placing a chocolate bunny inside a sugar basket atop a cupcake. This fantastic creation is by Yummy Mummy.

These little chicks are fantastic. These are from the wonderfully creative and also surprising Hoosier Homemade!

Every now and then you stumble, quite literally down and around the garden path, to discover something very unusual. This would have to be the first ever cupcake I have found which has featured wellingtons. Now I know in Australia as we head into autumn and winter the shoe stores are lining up gumboots as the second biggest fashion boot (apart from the fluffy avatar / Ugh style), but cupcakes adopting the wellington?
I guess if you do it as well as Poppy Kate has done here, then you are doing pretty well. I actually love these, they look so fun and so Spring or Fall, depending which half of the hemisphere you are in!

Is it too early to start thinking about summer cupcakes? I mean Spring is only just starting to bloom, but if you are planning a wedding then you probably will be well on the way to deciding!
So today I thought I would bring a bit of a summer wedding collective! But if you are not getting married, don’t despair, each of these also make great general summer cupcakes, so book mark them for when the weather warms up!

Love this cool summer color palette, bright blues and vivid sea green, with lots of wedding white. Simply perfect cupcakes from Bella Cupcakes. Also I love the use of the sea urchin!

Just because your adorable pooch can’t have the real deal, there is no reason why you cannot purchase a doggy cupcake just for them!
Introducing Rooney, a three year old Boston Terrier, who totally adores his treats! In fact Rooney will do just about anything for a treat, so what started off as trick to balance dog treats on her nose has now developed into this spectacular talent of balancing cupcakes! Unfortunately though, there are no cupcake treats for dogs, well not that I know of, so Maria (Rooney’s owner) introduced plush fabric cupcakes! The only shame is that they fail to last very long!
Rooney is also the inspiration behind Maria’s new cupcake business RooneyGirl Bakeshop!

As you probably know there is a new movie that has just been released called ‘Red Riding Hood’. I am not sure about the USA, but here it has been trashed by pretty much every single newspaper, radio station and other media. I haven’t seen it… and I am going to take their advice and not bother… but I hope kids still love the original story (whichever form you happen to have! I love the early versions)
But whether you like a happy ending or a black one, you have to admit, these cupcakes by Leapula are absolutely amazing!

Gorgeous pail of roses by Cassie's Cakes
Well then why not give a bucket of cupcake roses? Not only do they look beautiful, but they have one thing that roses don’t! They taste fantastic too!
Many people want to know how to create this rose shape, and it is actually easier than you would think. All you need is the right nozzle tip and a dozen cupcakes to practice on! So while you are baking your practice cupcakes, check out this video from Gabrielle Feuersinger, owner of San Francisco’s Cake Coquette here at Chow.com
Now Gabrielle uses a pastry nail to get that PERFECT finish, but if you don’t have one, you can apply the technique directly onto the cupcake!

If you spend hours creating a cupcake work of art, you need to spend a few minutes making it look fantastic when you serve it! Besides, you have worked hard to create your masterpiece, so it deserves to stand in the spotlight for a few minutes before it disintegrates to just a few crumbs and a great memory. So how to do this?
Little cupcake stands! These are a great new product from Diva Entertains and are a great way for converting a cupcake into a classy dessert! Imagine these on your dinner table at your next dinner party! Check them out here.

A while ago I brought you some fantastic Angry Bird cupcakes! These fondant toppers were amazing, but today I have found an equally great version of Angry Birds! Check out this extravagant cupcake cake featuring those Angry Birds in action! These are from Madame Patti-Cakes, and completely rock!
There are plenty of close up images of the pigs and the birds on Madame Patti-Kake’s Flickr account here, but it is this photo which I love best, with pigs balancing on cupcake towers and yes, that is a bird flying towards them!
If only I was better at the game!

St Patricks Day is just around the corner, and well although I am not Irish I am keen to celebrate for any reason at all. Countries such as India fascinate me because every week there is a new celebration… but being Australian, I settle for the fact that we constantly seem to have some home grown festival to celebrate, and where there is a gap in the calendar, we look to our multicultural heritage.
So last week was National Women’s Day, and this week is St Patricks Day, and in trying to find the perfect cupcake to bake for our humble celebration at work on Thursday, I stumbled onto the Brown Eyed Baker, a website I often frequent, who has created her St Patty Cuppies which are called ‘Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes’. But it is not just these fantastically boozy cupcakes she has, but a whole selection of St Patrick’s treats including beer waffles with cinnamon-caramel apples, guinness milk chocolate ice cream, Irish brown bread and more.
For me though, the cupcakes will be perfect!! Recipe can be found here!

Some people look down on cupcakes that are quick and easy to make, but often, the effort of designing a simple fondant decoration can be very rewarding. As you may know I am in search of cupcakes for my daughter’s school fete which I can whip up in a jiffy. For these, I want to make an impact to get the highest price possible, but don’t want to spend 5 years in the kitchen! So on seeing these frog in the pond cupcakes I know I have found a winner.
These frogs are created and designed by Wendy’s Whimsies and are cute, plus I can make them even simpler! We have a ton of smarties left over from a birthday party so I will just make pipe a dot of icing onto each smartie to make the eyes!
If you have any great ideas let me know!!
