You’ve got to see this to appreciate it. HeatherLynn already told you about this video a few days ago, but I just found a “sneak peek” that I was able to embed. The lovely Katy Perry with giant cupcakes on her bra. The infamous Snoop Dogg in a cupcake suit. What is California coming to? I don’t know, but it sure looks yummy! (And I just can’t stop singing the song!)

Does the name Johnny Cupcakes ring a bell to anyone? Well if it doesn’t, it should and it will.

Johnny Cupcakes all started when a young man named Johnny was given the name Johnny Cupcakes while working at Newbury Comics. He used this nickname as inspiration for designing t-shirts with the name ‘Johnny Cupcakes’ on them, obviously the t-shirts had Cupcakes on them! (click here to read more about his story)
He started selling these t-shirts out of the back of his trunk, and people went wild for them. And people are STILL wild for them. He has 2 east coast shops, one in Hull Massachusetts and one in Boston Massachusetts. He also has a brand new store that just opened up on the west coast in LA.

Check out these cute velour pants
embellished with a crystal cupcake,
available at Spoiled Brat.

A little pricey, ringing in at £155.00, which is about $225,
but it might be worth it to get to wear a sparkly cupcake on your hip?

It’s summer which means it’s time to hit the pool or the beach and why not look cute-as-a-cupcake in Betsy Johnson’s Hello Cupcake Embroidered Halter Top bikini. You can find this whimsical bathing suit featuring cats, birds, flowers, and of course cupcakes, on Betsy Johnson’s website or Bloomingdale’s and remember since this is a designer piece of swimwear it is more expensive. The top and bottom are perchased separately with the halter top costing $98.00 and the tie bottoms are $78. An additional bonus of you order from Bloomingdale’s is you recieve a free towel with every $100 swimwear purchase.

While the news about Cakespy opening her own gallery broke last month, the Cakespy Shop grand opening was only just this last Saturday. Since I live down the street from Capitol Hill’s newest cupcake art space, I go to stop by and join the party.
Cakespy Shop was packed by a rotating crowd of well-wishers and art buyers. I expected there to be a good crowd (we do love our cupcakes and cute art in this town), but this was a really good showing even taking that into account.

I admit, the Cakespy appeal was probably helped just a tiny bit by the free Trophy Cupcakes and complimentary performance by Mr. Cakespy’s band, Exohxo. The cupcakes were delicious and adorably appointed with images from Cakespy’s “Scenes from Capitol Hill” series and Exohexoh’s charming melodies and singing violins made a lovely accompaniment.

Exohexoh: I can't believe that an 8 person band could fit in this store, but they did it.

Mr. and Mrs. Cakespy outside the shop & hipstercakes outside of Neumo's, a neighborhood nightlife fixture

Mrs. and Mr. Cakespy (Jessie and Danny Oleson)

Hurray, Cakespy Shop is open for business!

Cupcake wig, cupcake corset, cupcake pasties…oh my!
An ATC Reader submitted this link to us, but since it is not really that child friendly the photo has been cropped, and link given in case you want to see more for yourself.
The photo was submitted on Poorly Dressed.

“My name is Johnny, and I make clothes with cupcakes on ‘em.” The rise of Johnny Cupcakes is the indie version of the pull yourself up by the bootstraps American dream. Johnny started out with a high school diploma, a goofy nickname and a whole lot of creativity, selling his cupcake-themed tees while he was on tour with his band. He ended up with with a multi-million dollar business based on t-shirts with cupcakes on them.

This month Johnny went back to his band tour roots with the Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour. On April 3rd he started in New York City, and over the past weeks he’s been moving across the country, sharing his good cupcake news and planting cupcake t-shirts all across the country. Next Sunday (4/25) he’ll be in my hometown of Seattle, WA pitching shirts and meeting fans at the Trophy Cupcakes in the Wallingford neighborhood. Sunday schedule allowing, I’ll be there soaking in the cupcake cool and taking lots of pictures for ATC.

I found some cute cupcake items in my errands this week and had to share. It is so hard not to buy every cupcake item I see. My friends have a saying about me and my cupcake buying- no cupcake left behind!

This little girls cupcake shirt was found at Target for only $5. They also had summer pajama sets too.

I found these notecards and several stamps in the $1 bins at Michael’s. I love that phrase, “keep calm and eat a cupcake”. They also had lipgloss, notepads and notebooks. These items are very similar to ones Michael’s had in their bins this time last year. I hope they keep them coming!

I think cupcakes are pretty great. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be writing for All Things Cupcake, right? But it takes something special for me to bestow an “OMFGBBQ CUTECAKES!” award. CakeSpy has it…CakeSpy, in fact, takes the cutecake.
I first discovered CakeSpy a few years ago at I Heart Rummage, a local artist swapmeet that goes on every other month at Chop Suey (Capitol Hill, Seattle). I stood at the booth for at least five minutes paralyzed and making cute noises over freakin’ adorable drawings of wee little cupcakes living their little cupcake lives: checking the interwebs at a coffeeshop, falling in love, and running from zombies. It made my week.
Turns out that CakeSpy (aka artist and writer Jessie Oleson) not only does prints of the wee lives of cupcakes, she also have a blog and plenty more merch. I mean really – what says awesome like a hip cupcakes and unicorns tee in the closet, a cupcakes and unicorn checkbook in your purse and teeny-beeny cupcake and unicorn magnets on the fridge?

I also saw a pink cotton shirt and pant cupcake set there too but neglected to snap a photo!

At the end cupcakes costumes are overwhelmingly sweet.
Just wanted to share pictures of my daughter’s cupcake costume (instructions from the Food Network). Thought you would get a kick out of it. I thought it was the most original costume I saw all night…maybe I’m a little biased! ;-)
— Liz

Hello! My daughter was thrilled with her cupcake costume this year, and to have Mommy as her baker!:)
The costume was custom made by Brittany sweetplume.etsy.com
The Pink Sprinkles Cupcakes Earrings were custom by SaintsNSinners.etsy.com
Cupcake Tote(for trick or treating): lmgboutique.etsy.com
My Cupcake Party Hat: tiffytart.etsy.com
Enjoy!:)

First I bought yardage of felt online in light pink and brown, I laid out some guesstimations as to how wide I wanted the diameter of the ‘icing’ to drape outward and the skirt length/volume of the ‘ripples’ for the cup. The rest thereafter was just taking things in to fit perfectly. Also, to add more cupcake volume/goodness, I added a second and third layer of ‘icing’ that would tie on across the bust and back. Felt is a very forgiving fabric and was so fun to work with! I topped off the ‘icing’ with an array of complimentary colored jimmies to complete the ensemble! And lastly, I created a fabulous headband with a giant, bead-adorned strawberry; whipped cream frills and a white ribbon burst for a touch of girly-charm.

There are so many cupcake shirts, dresses and pajamas in stores for little girls right now. I went into my daughter’s closet today and counted 15 cupcakes shirts that I have bought for her! I have looked long and hard to find a cupcake shirt for myself that doesn’t make me look like I raided her wardrobe. I finally found one!

(No, this isn’t me!)
This shirt was made by DressingOnTheSideand it is pen and ink artwork silkscreened on a supersoft white women’s basic crewneck t-shirt. It is a lightweight shirt which makes it perfect for layering. She advised me to get one size larger than my normal size and it fits me great. Please note that she has a limited stock of this cute cupcake design. DressingOnThe Side is currently running a special for ATC fans. Just mention All Things Cupcake at checkout and you will receive $5 off!

Some cupcakes do scare me: super dry cake with face crushingly sweet frosting. These dear readers find their own scary cupcakes. One in a Tim Burton inspired creation, the second as the victim to those seeking her sweetness!
I am an avid follower of the website and I have a huge cupcake obsession that is constantly fueled by the amazing cupcakey goodness I find there! I live in the UK and cupcakes are not as celebrated here as I think they should be. So, with this in mind, I decided to make a personal homage to the cupcake with a Tim Burton-esque cupcake costume for Halloween! It is entirely handmade, from the purple glittery cherry on my head to the handmade bows on my shoes! This is my first attempt at a handmade costume and I was so proud of my efforts that I wanted to share them with All Things Cupcake and fellow cupcake fans.
I hope you like it!
Rebecca Fishwick

So, not only do I have a cupcake tattoo (that you’ve featured) I went all out on a big cupcake costume for halloween. At each bar I went to, the doormen were sending people to find me because they thought my costume was just so incredible. Embarrassing and flattering, especially when I was wearing a laundry basket as the base of the cupcake. – Kelly from NY

When I came across these cute cupcakes items from Victoria’s Secret Pink line I could not help but wonder how I had not seen them sooner. Pink has two cupcake images offered on a variety of underwear styles including hipster and boybrief. The underwear can be purchased individually or as part of the 5 for $25 deal. There is also a Super Bling Cupcake Tee that is $39.50 and would make a great Christmas gift!

It isn’t the materials that make a memorable costume,
it is the imagination and soul!
I got cupcake necklace & resin cupcakes at Etsy & glued to sunglasses. Made my hat myself out of styrofoam. I also make the dogs costumes myself also out of styrofoam & lampshades. The real looking cupcakes I made out of insulating foam in a can. – Lisa from Huntington Beach CA (
more pics)

Thanks for the inspiration! I finally got to the fabric store and rigged up this cupcake costume for my adorable niece. There’s a pink headband with a cherry on top; we’ll see if she actually manages to keep that on for trick-or-treating. – Laura

Made from recycled materials, nothing was bought. enjoy :) – M.Peralta
