Happy Saturday cupcake fans! I am so excited to share this adorable reusable bag I just got this week from fabulous Etsy seller, Bagitconscious. They specialize in handmade reusable sandwich and snack bags, lunch bags, totes, and market bags. Everything you need to replace, or at least reduce the use of plastic.

This bag is well-made and the cupcake fabric is one of the cutest I have seen. This would be a perfect bag for your kids to carry a sandwich or snack for school. Although if you are like me, you may love it so much you have to keep it for yourself!
This week,
Bagitconscious is giving All Things Cupcake fans 10% off all orders! Just type “ATC Fan” in the notes to seller area upon checkout.

It’s that time of year again! Time to buy school supplies, clean out the backpack and shop for new school clothes. My son goes back to school in just two short weeks and of course my mind has drifted to thoughts of making him some special cupcakes to celebrate. Although I haven’t decided what kind I am making yet, here are some of my favorites. And if you pull out your mixer and pans to celebrate back to school as well, make sure you send us some photos!

While vacationing with my family in Vermont a few weeks ago we visited the Vermont Teddy Bear Company. I was very delighted and surprised to see a cupcake bear in their gift shop. Not only does it have a cute pink and yellow cupcake on it but it also has a vanilla cupcake smell! They also had gumball, grape, beer (huh?) and popcorn scented bears but the cupcake one caught my heart very quickly. Online they have a bouquet of three bears for $69.95 but in if you live in the Burlington Vermont area, you can go to their store and buy just the cupcake one for $24.95.

I found these amazing cupcakes on Flickr the other day and had to share them with you. These princesses including Snow White, Ariel and Sleeping Beauty were made by Solange a Brazilian Cupcake Designer.
They are so perfect, but as you know, what is a princess without her accessories, so Solange made accessory cupcakes too! I like this princess cupcake style – I just need my designer bag and sun glasses!

Spring time is often a wet and muddy time of year. So what can you do with your kids outside to make the best of it? How about making some mud cupcakes! Check out this “recipe” from Family Fun.

The classic mud pie needs no improving, but there may be days when your kids want to get more creative with their dirty work. That’s when old kitchen supplies come in handy, for these decorative cupcakes or for a more utilitarian variation: Mud Bricks.
- Materials:
-
- Cupcake liners
- Cupcake pan
- Mud
- Nature objects (we used berries, flowers, and pebbles)
-
- Simply place liners in a cupcake pan and fill them with mud batter, then decorate the cakes with natural objects, such as berries, flowers, and pebbles.

I came across this Compost Cupcake recipe on Cupcake Project and love the idea! These seem like the perfect snack for parents or even babysitters to make with or for children.

Compost Cupcake Recipe from Cupcake Project:
To make compost cupcakes, mix your favorite salty and sweet snacks into your favorite cupcake recipe. There is no reason that you have to use the recipe below. I was in the mood for molasses, so I mixed my snacks into a molasses-based cake. The molasses flavor was a bit overpowering and next time, I might try making compost cupcakes using a more basic white cake.
Yield: 12 Cupcakes
- 5 T unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 C white sugar
- 1/2 C unsulfured molasses
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 C all-purpose flour
- 1/4 t salt
- 1 t baking soda
- 1/2 C hot milk
- 1/2 C – 1 C crushed salty snacks (I used goldfish crackers and pretzels)
- 1/2 C – 1 C sweet snacks (I used cacao nibs and Skor chips)
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add the molasses and eggs.
- Add the flour and stir until just combined.
- Dissolve the baking soda in the hot milk.
- Stir in the hot milk mixture.
- Stir in salty and sweet snacks until combined.
- Divide batter evenly between 12 cupcake liners.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until slightly springy to the touch.
Chocolate Goldfish Cream Cheese Frosting
One of my favorite parts of my compost cupcakes was the chocolate cream cheese frosting with crushed goldfish crackers mixed in. The crackers added just the right about of salt to cut the sweet of the frosting. I highly recommend this frosting for any cupcake. Follow the recipe for my favorite chocolate frosting and then mix in a half cup of crushed goldfish crackers (or other salty treat) at the end.

Original Cuppycake Video
There was also a parody of this video with a cute chubby little boy … so cute!
Chubby Cuppycake Boy
I had seen the second video but had never seen the original with the little girl. Hope everyone gets a good smile and laugh from both of these!

I find that this time of year is particularly hard for cupcake hunters like me. It seems that many stores use cupcakes in the Valentine’s decorations so now they are popping up everywhere just screaming for me to take them home! I have to use extreme self-restraint because they are all so cute!
Here’s what I found at Target:

Oven Mitt and Pot Holder Set and Jar
Target also had kids utensils, divided trays and plates with cupcakes on them.
And Kohl’s had even more sweet items:

My Kohl’s store also had cupcake welcome signs, table runners, picture frames, large bowls, hand towels, cookie jars, adult aprons, kid aprons and jar candles. They are all between 30%-50% off their price this week. I must resist!

Alphabet Plates offers two cute customizable cupcake plate options. Both plates have blue background however you can choose between a chocolate cupcake with pink frosting or a chocolate cupcake with white frosting. Of course you also choose the name. The plates are $22.00 each and read “—– loves cupcakes.” I know that when I was growing up I loved anything that was specifically mine and not my siblings so I am sure this will make any child happy!
