Cupcake Pumpkin

Posted by on Saturday, November 1st, 2008

We received this email and photo from Justin…

Hello there, Been keeping up with your site for only a few weeks now, but I’m definitely becoming a huge fan! I started baking cupcakes at home a few months back, and have been consumed by, well, ‘all things cupcake’. Some of my friends, and girlfriend, have even bestowed the nickname ‘Cupcake’ upon me.

Anyway, I just figured, in celebration of Halloween, I’d give my pumpkin the ‘cupcake treatment’. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing Justin! ;)

Cupcakes….yum!

Posted by on Monday, October 20th, 2008

This is a photo of the three cupcakes I ordered for my bff and I. There was a puppy painted on our table. :)

This weekend my best friend and I were working on our halloween costumes (I am going to be a ladybug), and decided we wanted a sweet treat to eat. So we went to this place I recently found out about called Muddy’s Bake Shop. (It happens to be right around the corner from my best friend’s work). I was in a fruity kind of mood so I ordered a Pucker Up (sweet and tart lemon cupcake with lemon icing) and a Strawberry Fields Forever (strawberry cake with strawberry icing) cupcake for myself & bff. They were both so yummy! We had to get her fiance a few cupcakes as well…we ordered him a few cupcakes to go. He LOVED them too! I introduced myself to Kat the owner and I thought she was totally adorable! She had bubblegum pink hair! I can not wait to go back there and try the rest of their cupcake menu!

If you are ever in Memphis, TN I highly recommend stopping by Muddy’s Bake Shop.

A Fanciful Twist

I could spend days looking at the pictures on the A Fanciful Twist Blog. I consider myself a pretty creative person, but Vanessa Valencia‘s creations have left me in awe.

Super Mommy with Designs So Yummy

Posted by on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Recently, I did an interview with Linny of Room Candy (who has the most adorable dog toys and can really pass for baby toys… don’t believe me?) Below are some of the cutest little toys I’ve ever seen and my daughter has a few of these and LOVES THEM. (click on the picture to go to it’s page)

They even have an owl!

Linny wrote up a nice little story about me, and I’d like to share it with you :)

You ever watch that show called Heroes? Well, I happen to know a real superhero living amongst us (more specifically, in sunny Florida), and her name is Jessica.

Unlike us mere mortals, Jessica has the supernatural ability to bend time and stretch it out so that she can on any given day be simultaneously: a mommy to a 1 1/2 year old daughter, a website designer with her own swanky company, a blogger to three very active blogs, and who knows what else she hasn’t told me yet!

Here’s Jessica’s little blond cutie having a very serious discussion about being green with our Freddie frog toys.

The princess and her loyal subjects!

I’m sure being a devoted mom to the Princess takes up the bulk of Jessica’s day, and yet she finds time to blog about her life as a wifey/mommy/techie on her mommy blog: thetattooedmama.com

Come night time, Jessica dons on her tech head and designs website and blog designs via her company, Delicious Design Studios. If I were to try a similar feat, I would have probably named my company Sleep Deprived Inc.

True to its name, Jessica’s designs are simply digital yumminess. It’s hard to pin down her style of design, but what I’ve noticed is that Jessica leans toward happy girly colors (yay, pink!), and she could easily start another company designing scrapbook paper because many of her designs feature patterns that would look great as scrapbook paper. If you’re thinking about starting a blog or itching to update the look of your current site, this is the first site you need to check out because Jessica has a whole slew of ready made designs for the super impatient, and even a few freebie designs! For those of you who want something more customized, you’ll have to book your spot with Jessica quickly because a girl this talented is in very high demand. Last I checked, she’s taking on new customers for Spring ‘09.

Last but not least (I’m getting winded just writing down all the projects Jessica is involved in!), Jessica is the creator/editor/blogger for the super sweet site, allthingscupcake.com. I must warn you, this site is highly addictive, and although the site is technically calorie free, the side effects of reading through the posts about real cupcakes may include a sudden case of sweettoothiritis! What’s cool is that Jessica and her team of contributors also scour the net to find other accessories with cupcake designs (e.g. cupcake Xmas ornament, anyone?), so the site is really a directory of…well, all things cupcake!

I’m sure you are curious as I am as to what drives this supergal……

Cupcake Kiosk at the Los Angeles County Fair

Posted by on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Laura, an ATC Reader, went to the Los Angeles County Fair this year and was pleasantly surprised to see this new and HUGE cupcake kiosk there!  They also had smaller ones located throughout the fair (our fair is ridiculously enormous and fantastic!!).  The booth was absolutely adorable decorated in pink and black…kind of a Frenchy look.  They offered muffin-sized cupcakes for $4.25 and mini-sized ones for $2 in vanilla, chocolate or red velvet and then your choice of sprinkles. Besides their outrageously priced cupcakes they had several cute t-shirts available too.

Thanks for sharing your pictures and all of the info with us Laura!

Show and Tell – Cupcake Party

Posted by on Monday, October 6th, 2008

You are invited to a party… A Cupcake Party!

Ashleigh loves cupcakes and did her son Caden’s birthday party with the cupcake theme. From cupcake invitations, to a giant cupcake cake. Even the cheese slices were shaped like little cupcakes!

Ashleigh made this large cupcake shaped cake from scratch! She bought a big cupcake cake pan. The bottom was on one side, and the top part on the other side of the pan. It is two pieces put together. She put a round cardboard between them to make it easier to slice.

Please visit Ashleigh’s mother’s blog, Yellow Rose Arbor, to read the whole story and see all of the wonderful photos from Caden’s second birthday party.

Now that’s frosted…

Posted by on Monday, August 11th, 2008

My husband Tony gives me a hard time about “underfrosting” my cupcakes for the sake of cuteness. I think I use plenty of frosting, but I made an extra large batch of peanut butter buttercream last night to test Tony’s frosting limits. According to him, these are perfect, and the standard by which all future frosting jobs will be measured. I hope butter gets cheaper soon. You can find the recipe at Bake & Destroy.

Cupcake Baking Cup Garland

“I always enjoy looking at the window displays at Anthropologie– they always have some great ideas. While in NYC a few weeks ago, I spotted this fun idea- They used different colored paper and foiled cupcake baking cups as garland…”

My Lil’ Cupcake

Posted by on Sunday, January 27th, 2008

A week ago (or more, I’ve completely lost track of time), Jess suggested we get ourselves over to Target for, well, all things cupcake. I did just that – and here are just some of the results. My 4-month old daughter, Adaline, shown here sporting a cupcake bib and an unwillingness to share her giant cupcake pillow – and my new dishtowels which make me oh-so-happy ever time I walk into my kitchen. It’s the little things that make me smile … thanks, Jess!
