Cupcake Cuties Sparkling Pendant
Posted by hungry runner on April 6th, 2012

I recently saw this fun display of cupcake necklaces and was excited to find the cupcake shaped gift box and necklace available on Amazon. Even better, the necklaces from Amazon by Cupcake Cuties are half the price of the retail store I originally saw it in. All the necklace pendants are the same but the cupcake shaped boxes are different. The color options include green, purple, pink, or blue on top and yellow or brown for the base.

The bunnies are made of crepe paper, tissue paper, and cupcake wrappers. You will also need candy or trinkets to fill the bunnies with. I love that you can use supplies that your already have on hand to make the bunnies and each will be unique! For the template and instructions visit the Martha Stewart website.
Quick Marshmallow Frosting
Posted by CandidCupcake on April 1st, 2012
Do you run out of energy to make the frosting after you’ve already baked a whole batch of cupcakes? Or do you need to head out the door and you don’t have time to frost your cupcakes? Or maybe you just don’t want more dishes to clean up? I came across the perfect solution. Just add marshmallows (see here) to the tops of your cupcakes 5 minutes before they’re done baking, and then spread out the melted marshmallow over the cupcakes.
April Fool’s Day Cupcakes
Posted by cupcakeSerenity on April 1st, 2012It’s not too late to celebrate April Fool’s Day with some Spaghetti and Meatballs cupcakes. Here’s one way to do it, from The Farm Girl: Pipe on noodles using small round icing tip. For meatballs, dunk some Ferrerro Rocher chocolates in raspberry jelly–yum!

Pinkie Pie’s Cupcake Song
Posted by hungry runner on March 31st, 2012http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOVDu7etQlc
I grew up watching the My Little Pony: The Movie from 1986! Even though the look of the little ponies has changed a lot over the years I still thought this youtube video that my friend shared with me was cute. The video is Pinkie Pie’s cupcake song where Pinkie Pie teaches Applebloom how to make cupcakes! While I wouldn’t attempt making the cupcakes that the ponies sing about, it is still a fun way to introduce kids to baking.
Easter Egg Cupcakes
Posted by cupcakeSerenity on March 31st, 2012Easter is my favorite cupcake holiday. You can do anything you want with pastels and you’re good to go–so many options! Plus, I’m kind of obsessed with bunnies. Anyway, here is my first attempt this year. (For the grass, I used Wilton tip 233.) If you try this, I HIGHLY recommend Starburst jelly beans. I don’t even like candy, and these are delicious!

Colorado Cupcakes
Posted by hungry runner on March 29th, 2012Last week I visited my friend in Colorado and was lucky enough to see both Boulder and Denver while on my trip. In Boulder we stopped into Tee and Cupcakes to try three of their cupcakes. I loved the outside of the cupcake shop, which is shown above, and since we were there pretty early in the day there was a wide selection of cupcakes to choose from. We decided on the following flavors: girl scout cookie samoas, chocolate with salted caramel frosting, and white on white or vanilla with vanilla frosting.
My friend and I agreed that while we liked the creative flavors and the appearance of the cupcakes we didn’t love the consistency of the frosting or the cake. The frosting we almost like whipped cream or cool-whip with a very airy texture. We also weren’t crazy about the cake consistency and flavor so overall we thought they were good cupcakes but not great. Continue reading »
Move Over Sit-In, Make Way for Cupcake-In
Posted by cupcakeSerenity on March 28th, 2012
Have a statement? Want to be heard? How about cupcakes? Fans of the new video game Mass Effect 3 are upset with the ending and want it changed. And they’re asking nicely, by sending 400 cupcakes to Bioware, the game’s creators. The cupcakes will be frosted three different colors, but will all taste the same, to symbolize the similar endings of the three video games in the series. This effort will cost $1005 and everyone who contributes to the cause will also get to send along a note with the cupcakes. It’s like a sugary sweet petition. Click here for the campaign website. The cupcakes will be delivered by Fuss Cupcakes of Edmonton, Alberta.

Today my daughter had money in her pocket to burn and really wanted to buy something for herself. She loves to do craft projects, so we headed to our local AC Moore and here is what she chose to buy.
Although it is a bit hard to see in this photo, this is Perler Beads Cupcake and Butterfly Fused Bead Kit. For those of you who don’t know what Perler beads are, you simply fill the cupcake shaped pegboard with the beads, iron it and voila! You have a lovely cupcake to make into a magnet or pin. This set was $7.99 at AC Moore and you can also find in on Amazon.
And here are the cupcakes my daughter and I made! We had so much fun!

Operation Cupcake
Posted by cupcakeSerenity on March 26th, 2012
Be on the lookout for a new Hallmark Channel movie titled Operation Cupcake, starring Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson. The movie preimeres Sunday, June 17th at 8 Eastern. The movie tells the story of an Army dad who suddenly finds himself working in a cupcakery. Apparently, he tries to take a military approach to cupcaking. Hmm…
Oddly enough, there was another movie with the same name, albeit, bearing a colon, Operation: Cupcake, from 2006. I can find no connection between the movies though, except for the well, love of cupcakes.

Go back to the “good old days” with these soda fountain cupcakes. From left to right, they are creamsicle, cherry soda and root beer. All you have to do is bake a batch of cupcakes and use food coloring and food flavoring for each type of frosting.
Which one would you choose? I think I’d definitely go with the root beer, but they all sound delicious!
