Vintage Peace Love and Cupcake Necklace

Posted by on January 15th, 2011

It is no surprise to anyone that I love Etsy and cupcakes. I also love anything vintage and am a hippie at heart. So I think I have found the perfect necklace on Etsy(of course)  from Chocolate Silver Designs.

Cupcake Stamps

Posted by on January 15th, 2011

I came across My Favorite Things because one of my favorite artists, Stephanie Fizer has created illustrations for them, like these really cute robots.  My Favorite Things is a website that sells clear stamps and while looking around on the site I noticed quite a few cupcake stamps.  Most of the stamps are pretty girly looking like a bunny named Flopsey holding a cupcake or a little girl hugging a cupcake (each shown above).  The prices for the stamps range in price from $9.00-11.00.

Additionally, I really like the cupcake card template which features the à la modes birthday girl stamp. It’s a downloadable file that costs $1.95.

Cupcake tattoo alight

Posted by on January 15th, 2011

This cupcake tattoo is from Revolution Ink.  You may remember that we featured them last week with the story of Angie, and the remembrance of her through the ongoing design of bright, colorful and unique cupcakes.

I had so many amazing photos and gorgeous ideas I just couldn’t fit them all into the one post, so today I thought I would show you another one of those cupcake tattoos.

I love the big lick of flame on top of this cupcake, but more than the tattoo itself, I love this really edgy and beautiful photograph below.  It really shows the fantastic colors of the cupcake tattoo on this man’s arm.

You Are the Icing on My Cupcake Sign

Posted by on January 14th, 2011

How often do we hear someone say, “You are the icing on my cupcake!”? Well if you do not hear it enough you then purchase this sign from Funki Folk Art’s Etsy store and hear(or see) it every day. I love the pink on the edges and the vintage feel to the sign.

Crate & Barrel Cupcake Party Plate

Crate & Barrel is one of my favorite stores for home goods.  While at the mall I notice Crate & Barrel has new cupcake party plates.  They are $4.95 each and are a 6 inch square.  I love the bright colors, they’re great cheery plates for cold January days!

Stuffed Pancake Cupcakes

Posted by on January 13th, 2011

I have been craving pancakes lately which got me thinking about pancake cupcake recipes.  I came across this recipe for stuffed pancake cupcakes by Katin Cooks.  They look pretty interesting and I think I might give them a try this weekend (recipe below).  I like that they’re semi-home made but wonder if they’re still cupcakes without frosting? Does syrup count?

Ingredients
2 cups Original Bisquick mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 stick butter
12 tbsp filling: try Nutella, fruit jam, or cream cheese
confectioners sugar for sprinkling
maple syrup for serving

Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Generously coat the bottom & sides of a 12-muffin tin with butter. Make Bisquick pancakes per instructions on the box. Fill each cup in the muffin tin half-way. Add 1 tbsp of filling to the middle of each muffin, then cover with the remaining pancake mix. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven, place on serving dish & use a flour sifter to sprinkle with sugar. Serve with warm syrup.

ATC Review: Cupcake Chalkboard Decal

Posted by on January 12th, 2011

WallCandy Arts creates reusable wall stickers and wall art.  These wall decals can easily be removed and reapplied without leaving any marks on the walls.  One of there products is a large cupcake wall decal that doubles as a chalkboard; Which was what we here at ATC were sent to review.

I love this product and have to admit it is one of my favorite reviews so far.  As the website states it is easy to use, you simply peel the decal off the backing, stick it onto the wall and smooth out any air pockets with your hands.   Then when you want to remove or rearrange the layout, you just peel the decal off the wall.  It comes off with out damaging the walls.  These wall decals are great because you don’t have to use nails that leave holes in walls or I’ve had comand hooks peel off the paint before.  So if you are looking for a unique way to decorate, these are a great option. How Cupcakes Became America’s Favorite

Posted by on January 12th, 2011

I’ll admit, I’m not usually one to read the business news, but yesterday, an article in Business Insider caught my attention. (Or maybe it was the picture.) The article, Here’s How Cupcakes Became America’s Favorite Sweet Treat, could also be called “Cupcake Fairytale” or “The Cupcake’s Meteoric Rise to the Top.” The engrossing article highlights some of America’s favorite cupcakeries, and looks at the rise of the cupcake from a business perspective. What shocked me were the dollar signs. I tend to take life one cupcake at a time, taking the time to stop and smell the cupcakes, if you will, but this article taught me that for some people: cupcakes is big business!

Cupcake Flowers

Posted by on January 11th, 2011

I know I post about Sweet Paul a lot but I love everything he creates! So while the gift giving season is behind us I couldn’t help but share this idea for cupcake flowers.  To make these flowers you need 3 large liners and 3 small liners.  Then another line for my favorite part of these flowers, the tassels. For his brief instructions, visit Sweet Paul’s posting.

Valentine’s Day and Cupcakes

Posted by on January 11th, 2011

This time of year is the best cupcake hunting time. It seems that so many retailers pair Valentine’s Day and cupcakes and I love it! Here’s some of the sweet items I found yesterday in Target’s dollar section:

Cupcake socks, dry erase board, oven mitt and pot holder and cupcake erasers. They also had cupcake shirts for small dogs.

Facebook fan, Lindsey also found this cupcake bank at her Target.

I have also had Valentine cupcake sightings at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby and my favorite Kohl’s.

Kohl’s cupcake placemats, wreath, table runner and vinyl tablecloth.  These photos only show half of what they have available this year.   All are so sweet and so tempting!

Please click on the comment area below and let us know about your cupcake sightings this week.

Cupcake Lamp

Posted by on January 10th, 2011

I have been to Target more times in the past few days then I would like to admit.  On one of my many trips I found this cupcake lamp that would be perfect for a little girls’ room! I think it’s cute that the cupcake looks like it it sitting on a plate.  I also like that it is somewhat simple with pink ric-rack along the top and bottom of the lamp shade.  Brown and pink are such popular colors right now that it’s easy to match other pieces to this lamp. The table lamp costs $99.99 and might be eligible for free shipping.

Sweet Shop Cupcake Lip Glosses

Posted by on January 10th, 2011

Are these cute or what? They’re billed as party favors, but I’m pretty sure I could justify the purchase of the set for just myself.  Cute little chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and raspberry cupcakes. I would drive people crazy playing with the little flip-tops. This gift set is going for $12.50 these days at Amazon.

Dean and Deluca Cupcake

Posted by on January 9th, 2011

One of the good things about moving to a new place is there’s lots of new places to try.  So moving to an area in South Carolina but close to Charlotte, North Carolina, for grad school means new cupcake spots to try.  For my first adventure I stuck to what I knew and went to Dean and Deluca, a gourmet food shop, for a snack.  They have such a great bakery display case that it was hard to decide on just one thing.

Instead of sticking to the usual, classic flavors I went for one of the unique ones and tried a Raspberry and Pink Champagne cupcake.  How can you pass up a hot pink cupcake?  The cupcake was really good.  The raspberry and champagne flavors complimented each other nicely.  The champagne flavor was very subtle and came across as a hint of yeast flavor.

Cupcake Tattoos for Angie

Posted by on January 7th, 2011

You know that we love to feature cupcake tattoos, and why not, there are so many amazing designs around, and behind each is a skilled and talented artist who create, design and ink those images, a piece of artwork which will last for a lifetime.  So today I thought I would explore where one particular tattoo parlor got its cupcake inspiration from.

Angelia was a baker, she loved to make cupcakes and Angie dreamt of owning her own cupcake bakery one day.  She had a few cupcake tattoos on her done by the guys at Revolution Ink.  Angie specifically requested bright and beautiful tattoos and they were admired by many, even people not interested in tattoos.

Unfortunately when Angie passed away, it left a hole  in the hearts of those who knew her and posed an issue as to how a funeral could be funded.  The guys at Revolution Ink decided to offer cupcake tattoos to raise the funds, and so many people took them up, that they raised over $3,000.  Even now they still get so many requests for these bright and beautiful cupcake tattoos which first started with Angie’s originals.

These photos above are some of the tattoos created in remembrance of Angie, and below is the large colorful tattoo that Angie had done on her back.

Cupcake Calender

Posted by on January 5th, 2011

Happy New Year everyone! And we all know what a new year means … finding the right calender! I have been lost at work without a new calender, luckily I bought one and am not so lost. I wish I had found this calender before I had gone and purchased one in town.

2011 Cupcake Calendar – Sprinkled with Fun from Monkey Mind Design’s etsy shop

Each month has a cute design and an even cuter saying about cupcakes. My favorite is April (my birthday month) “A cupcake a day, keeps the sweet tooth away!” They also sell a Mini Cupcake Calender as well.

Wear your cupcakes?

‘Cake me’ is a new project for the ultra talented Kiara Black a German photographer who specialises in taking amazing photos of women.  With this series she has decided to take her cake, and instead of eat it, design with it!  Currently there are only two photos in this collection, this stunning image below is the second one, the first is cookie sweet, but you will have to check out either Kiara’s Flickr page or her website to see that one!

I just want to know how you get them to sit so perfectly without getting blue frosting on your hair… ha!

Apple Spice Caramel Cupcakes

Posted by on January 4th, 2011

Call Me Cupcake has modified a Martha Stewart recipe to create these Apple Spice Caramel Cupcakes.  Not only does the recipe sound delicious but I love the little green fondant apples used to decorate the cupcakes! The blog is written in Swedish so I used Google Translate to convert the text to English for the recipe which can be found below.
