Every now and then you stumble across something that is truly unique and fantastic, and that is exactly what happened to me when I stumbled across Alma’s website, called Spain In A Cupcake.
You see Alma until recently had never tasted the joys of the cupcake and it wasn’t until she was on a recent visit to London that she discovered their delicate goodness. Now understandably she is addicted. Since that visit she has taught herself how to cook and has a kitchen in which to experiment, which she is doing.
Alma may currently be spending a year living in Germany but her cupcakes are very Spanish influenced. You see it is not just a name ‘Spain in a Cupcake‘ but also a concept. Alma is letting Spanish flavor inspire her cupcake creations and coming up with some very unique and fantastic cupcake ideas. So far we have the Sangria, Brazo de Gitano, Chocolate con Churros, Arroz con Leche, and surprisingly Chupa Chups!
This is just the start for Alma and her cupcake project, but it is one that I for sure will be watching with interest! And did I mention they all come complete with recipes??

Sweets for Sweetest Day by Shari's Berries
The third Saturday in October is Sweetest Day; this year that falls on October 16th. It’s a wee holiday that’s mostly celebrated up in the Great Lakes region with the giving of small gifts to loved ones. Sweetest Day originated in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922 as a PR move by a committee of Cleveland confectioners: on the first Sweetest Day, 20,000 boxes of candy were distributed to the city’s poor and unfortunate by movie stars. Admittedly, giving boxes of candy to the needy is great press, but what I take away from this is that Sweetest Day is about giving to those who need it most.
I want to advocate for a revival of Sweetest Day as a holiday where we again give to the most vulnerable among us. Since we can all agree that cupcakes are way better/sweeter than candy, it’s pretty easy to see how we can fit our favorite baked good into this equation. Also, from what I’ve read in All Things Cupcake, cupcake aficionados are all about uniting our favorite food with philanthropy. This is something we do naturally – it’s no secret cupcake-lovers are sweethearts.
Celebrations of Sweetest Day can be as literal as giving cupcakes to orphans, but they could also take the form of bake sales to feed the hungry or to raise awareness about epilepsy. We’ve already seen the outpouring of cupcakes and funds in the wake of the earthquake in Haiti and Jody Hall‘s use of Cupcake Royale as a platform for social justice. Let’s use Sweetest Day as a way to celebrate the best parts of ourselves and to use cupcakes to their greatest potential – helping our fellow human beings.
—
If you decide to plan something for Sweetest Day, let us know! We at All Things Cupcake would love to hear about our readers plans to bring back what is possibly the only cupcake-related social justice holiday in existence.

Cupcake Cuties are cupcake decorating kits for weddings, birthdays, holidays and other celebrations. And using them is really as easy as 1, 2, 3! Each kit contains a 24 self adhesive themed sleeves and decorative garnish, so all you need is a frosted cupcake. The kits also include easy to follow instructions and a picture of what the final product is supposed to look like.

We here at ATC were sent two cupcake cuties, the scary scull and the football. For the scary skulls I made vanilla cupcakes and used vanilla frosting. Once they were frosted I dipped them in the provided white sprinkles. Then wrapped the sleeve around the cupcake and topped with an included spider. For the footballs I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. As instructed I used a toothpick to draw a football then using the included white writing gel to draw the lines. The kit also had green sprinkles to use as grass and a sleeve to finish the cupcake. Read the rest of this entry »

This is Crazy Pink Cupcake, just don't call him that!
I found this Etsy site the other day and it is fantastic! The owner Karly, has only just re set the store up mid last month, and if these absolutely adorable clay figures are anything to go by she is going to do a roaring trade, I am so in love. My favorite is this little dude here with the lifter fork thing, his name is Sprinklez.
You can check out all of Karly’s creations on her blog too. All of these creations are currently available, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they move pretty quickly! I am so eyeing you Mr Sprinklez! xxx

The cupcakes flank the ice cream dude!

While running the other day I passes a father and daughter biking. I noticed the little girl’s biking shirt had a cupcake on it. The shirt was by Sugoi and it has a cupcake images on the front and back in addition to three pockets on the back. There is also a cupcake recipe inside the pocket! I found the shirt on two websites, Bike Nashbar for $29.99 or Sun Rise Cyclery where it costs $34.99.

So do you know what a cupfake is? A cupfake is a fake cupcake- all the sweet and zero calories! This week we are giving away one cupfake from new Etsy seller Frankschick. Her Etsy store is called The Cakery Fakery (how cute is that?!) You may remember her is a previous post by Applecupcake. She is obsessed with cupcakes but alas, admits to being an awful baker! So instead of heading to the supermarket for cupcake supplies, she headed to Home Depot. Her cupfakes are all 100% hand made, hand painted and hand decorated by her. These are just a few of my favorites:

I am so pleased to own one of her creations because it looks so realistic. Every time I look at it I get hungry! I was also extremely pleased with the Cakery Fakery’s high importance on customer service. One of the best cupcake artists Etsy has to offer.
This week The Cakery Fakery is giving away one set Halloween cupfakes to a sweet reader.

To enter, visit her shop and pick out your favorite then come back to ATC. Click on the comment area below and tell us your favorite and also tell us what kind of cupfake you think she should make next. One winner will be chosen on Monday October 11th.
Make sure to also become her fan on Facebook!

Flowers In May, a design and stationary company was launched in 2007 by Massachusetts based graphic designer Emily Dumas. In the “about” section of her website it mentions that she enjoys baking cupcakes which explains two of her prints. One print, titled The Best Things In Life Are Sweet, is an 11×13 print of all things sweet, including cupcakes! Another print which shows Dumas’s passion for baking is named, Today I Feel Like Baking, and a little cupcake can be found hidden amongst the baking necessities. Prices for prints range from $15 to $25 and look around her website to view the other products she offers.

Cayenne Chocolate Cupcake by Carpe Cupcakes!
National Cupcake Day was way back in March, so it’s about time for another cupcake holiday, right? I’m pretty sure that National Chocolate Cupcake Day wasn’t created by an act of Congress, but if Cupcakes Take the Cake and National Food Holidays say it’s a holiday, that’s good enough for me.
In case chocolate isn’t your thing, National Angel Food Cake Day is October 10th, National Dessert Day is October 14th, National Candy Corn Day is October 30th, the third Saturday in October is Sweetest Day, and of course there’s Halloween. October has plenty of good reasons to bake and enjoy delicious cupcakes!

Do you want to learn the secret behind 3D chocolate decorations? Well I am about to tell you. Well actually not me but The Lone Baker.
If you have not heard of her, she is worth finding out about. Her whole website is dedicated to amazing tips and tricks to do with cupcake decoration and did I say she is amazing?
So to the 3D chocolate spirals, well, the trick is Vodka, but I don’t want to shatter the mystery, take a visit to her site to check it out. You may have piped chocolate swirls onto baking paper before, but they are flat, two dimensional pieces, where as these, well you see!

I am pretty much an ETSY freak and a lover of handmade vintage like items! My latest search on ETSY yielded this lovely lil’ cupcake gem.
This is totally my style and adorable! The shop owner is a genius for coming up with this one, she must have had me in mind when making it.

A lovely young lady by the name of Cyanne has made quite a statement by starting a cupcake club in her neighborhood in Arizona. She, along with some help from her mom, made cupcakes and sold them to family, friends, and neighbors to raise money for the St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. She sold her cupcakes for only $1 each, and she raised $125 for the food bank, which enabled the alliance to distribute 875 meals. If a 7-year-old can do this, it makes me wonder what I could do, what any of us could do. A lot can be accomplished with a little bit of heart, a little bit of time, and some cupcakes.

I have found that you can always count on Urban Outfitters to have unique, and somewhat random products. The nail polish remover pads which they currently have in cupcake vanilla fragrance, is a perfect example of a unique product. The container of 100 alcohol and acetone free pads is on sale for $3.99.

Every now and then you find something unusual on top of a cupcake, and today was one of those days when I found Macbeth cupcakes by Clever Little Cupcakes in Bury, UK.
She explains that her son has been studying Macbeth at school and she wanted to do something to celebrate the occasion. It really goes to show, with a little imagination you can achieve anything! The cupcakes feature a bloodied hand, a sword, plaques with words from the Shakespearian text and Dunsinane. Close ups of each cupcake can be seen on her Flickr account.
Of course these sword cupcakes would be brilliant for a range of different style cupcakes, including King arthur or any medieval style party!
